Spotlight on the DECA Project at Borzen's Event: Driving the Future of Renewable Energy

The DECA project took center stage at the "Inauguration of Borzen's Contact Point for Acceleration of RES and EE" event held at Primorska Technology Park. Vanja Cencič, a project manager at GOLEA, highlighted the key objectives and activities of the DECA project, and underscored its critical role in advancing sustainable energy solutions for community benefits.

Meeting the 2030 Climate Goals: A Call to Action
To meet the ambitious EU target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, it's imperative to increase the share of renewable energy, enhance energy efficiency, and take swift action. EU nations must prioritize accessible and clean energy solutions to achieve sustainable transition goals and mitigate climate change.

A Shift Towards Renewable Energy and Citizen-Led Initiatives
Transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy and embracing decentralized, citizen-driven initiatives is a major direction for the future. Expanding renewable energy capacity requires broad social acceptance and support for solutions that move away from fossil fuel-based technologies towards low-carbon renewable energy systems. This approach is essential for the successful implementation, transferability, and scalability of sustainable energy policies.

Insights on New Legislation and Best Practices
The event also featured insights from Andreja Belavić Benedik of A-sol Energija d.o.o., who discussed Slovenia's new legislation on energy communities, renewable energy sources (RES) use, and the introduction of innovative technologies for electricity production from RES. Additionally, Rajko Leban, director of GOLEA, shared best practices from Slovenia's energy community initiatives, providing valuable examples of how local actions can contribute to broader sustainability goals.

As we continue to navigate the path towards a greener future, initiatives like the DECA project and the collaboration of community leaders, policymakers and industry experts  will play a crucial role in shaping the sustainable energy landscape. Together, we can drive the change needed for a cleaner, more equitable and more resilient world.
