Supporting Regional Energy Transition in Slovenia

The Local Energy Agencies Consortium meeting taking place in Slovenia brought together representatives from 5 Slovenian local energy agencies to review past activities, discuss future plans, share new initiatives and exchange experiences. Agencies gave overviews of their involvement in ongoing EU-funded projects, highlighting progress, key outcomes and collaboration opportunities.

The session emphasized continued cooperation and knowledge exchange to support regional energy transition goals. The event placed particular emphasis on EU-funded initiatives that support local and regional energy transitions.

Key Highlights:

-DECA Project (Danube Transnational Programme – Interreg):

This presentation focused on project presentatiom, implememented activities and achieved results. Such as DECA tool wich will support citizens in establishment of energy communities and increase of public authority capacities in climate and energy planning.

-European Energy Community Facility (LIFE Programme):

The presentation detailed this EU instrument’s aim to empower local communities in accelerating the clean energy transition through technical assistance, funding, and stakeholder involvement.

-EU Missions on Adaptation to Climate Change (Horizon Europe):

The presentation outlined LEAG’s role in implementing adaptation measures on helping regions become more resilient to climate-related risks through regional pilot actions and knowledge exchange.

-ShareRES Project (Interreg Europe):

This project (DRP0200567) is supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme project co-funded by the European Union.

Best practices on sharing of renewable energy among European regions were presented. Emphasis was placed on interregional policy learning and capacity building to enhance local support for renewables.

-TRANSGEO Project – (Interreg Central Europe Programme):

In the afternoon, a stakeholder-focused session introduced the TRANSGEO project, which explores opportunities for cross-border cooperation in geothermal energy use and sustainable heating solutions.

The event concluded with a wrap-up and reflections on the importance of collaborative EU project engagement in advancing Slovenia’s local energy and climate goals.
