Let’s Start the Project! – Kick-Off Event in Nyíregyháza

We are happy to share the exciting start of the #RomansWineDanube project - a 2.5-year Interreg Danube Region Programme initiative co-funded by the European Union, spanning 11 countries with 13 partners - with a successful kick-off event held in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, hosted by the Network for Regional Development Foundation. The event, which took place on April 4-5, 2024, allowed the consortium to meet for the first time in person and establish the thematic and administrative groundwork for achieving the project’s goals.

The #RomansWineDanube project aims to empower communities, involve them in tourism development, and give them a voice in managing visitors and tourist offers while seeking to influence policy changes at the transnational level, promote sustainable travel packages and innovative and inclusive solutions for tourism management and development.

The first transnational partner meeting was dedicated to general project implementation issues among partners from Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The team reviewed key project objectives, milestones, and activities, focusing on Specific Objective 1 activities and deliverables. Insightful presentations by activity leaders and collaborative planning with partners enabled the development of a comprehensive roadmap for the initial phase of the project.

On the second day, partners had the opportunity to dive into a detailed discussion of the remaining activities of Specific Objective 1 and explored project finances and reporting in the presentation of the Lead Partner. Moreover, the consortium convened for its first, in-person Steering Committee meeting in Nyíregyháza. During this session, Committee members addressed administrative and operational aspects of the project’s implementation.

In addition to the productive discussions, the kick-off event in Nyíregyháza provided the opportunity for networking and relationship-building among project partners. Informal interactions and exchanges of ideas strengthened the bonds within the project consortium.

Looking ahead, the #RomansWineDanube project team is inspired to embark on this 2.5-year journey, leveraging the expertise and resources of our diverse partners to address the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Stay tuned for updates and progress as we continue to work towards our shared goals!
