CITYWALK2.0 at WALK21 - Tirana
The CityWalk 2.0 Consortium, represented by Rok Vrban (ZRS Bistra Ptuj), Helmut Lemmerer (TUW), Mihaela Sultan (PMC), and Valentina Stan & Miruna Draghia (US), participated in the Walk21 Conference held in Tirana, Albania, from 6–10 October 2025.
Project partners contributed actively to the event by organizing several key sessions:
1. Plenary session – led by Helmut Lemmerer, who presented the CityWalk 2.0 project, highlighting its impact on sustainable mobility and its contributions to environmental and social well-being.
2. Walkshop – led by Rok Vrban and Valentina Stan, with support from Mihaela Sultan. The one-hour session involved around 20 participants exploring Tirana’s city center (near the Pyramid) to assess accessibility for children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Participants experienced the city from the perspective of visually and mobility-impaired individuals, examining sidewalk heights and pedestrian path accessibility.
3. Workshop – led by Miruna Draghia and Valentina Stan, with support from Rok and Mihaela. Results and insights from the walkshop were presented here, engaging over 30 participants from across Europe and Africa, who discussed and learned practical methods for evaluating urban accessibility in their own cities.
In addition, the CityWalk 2.0 team met with representatives of the Active2Public Transport project (Danube Regional Programme) to exchange experiences, align goals, and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
