Final Conference of CityWalk 2.0 and Streets for Citizens, Ptuj, 19 May 2026
Final Conference of CityWalk 2.0 and Streets for Citizens, Ptuj, 19 May 2026
We are pleased to invite you to the Final Conference of CityWalk 2.0, jointly organised with the Streets for Citizens project (Interreg Euro-MED) and hosted in Ptuj, Slovenia by SRC Bistra Ptuj and Javne službe Ptuj, in cooperation with the City Municipality of Ptuj. Under the title "Liveable streets for everyone: innovative urban development solutions", the event will bring together two complementary initiatives that show, in practice, how streets and public spaces can be transformed into places where people, not cars, come first.
CityWalk 2.0 and Streets for Citizens combine policy work, stakeholder cooperation and real-life testing across the Danube and Mediterranean regions. Together, they demonstrate how tactical urbanism, placemaking, community engagement and behavioural change measures can support healthier, safer and more sustainable urban environments.
Who should join
This event is especially relevant for public authorities, urban planners, mobility and transport organisations, infrastructure and service providers, sectoral agencies, NGOs, civil society representatives and other stakeholders interested in practical ways to make streets more liveable and human-centred.
The full programme will take place on 19 May 2026 at the Dominican Monastery, Muzejski trg 1, Ptuj, starting at 8.30 with registration. The conference is designed to present the main results of both projects, share concrete lessons from pilot actions on the ground, and discuss how tested solutions can be transferred to other cities and regions.
What to expect
The event will connect strategic framing with practical examples. Participants will hear from international experts, project teams and local stakeholders, take part in hands-on activities, and visit the demonstration sites in Ptuj where the projects' ideas have been put into practice.
Participants will gain:
insight into tested solutions from across the Danube and Mediterranean regions,
two keynote presentations from leading European experts in urban design and sustainable mobility,
access to project results, tools and key learnings on street redesign and tactical urbanism, placemaking and community engagement, and travel behavioural change,
opportunities to exchange with project partners, strategic partners and wider mobility and urban development stakeholders,
a study visit to the demonstration actions implemented in Ptuj.
