Danube GeoHeCo project presented during the 29th Steering Group meeting for Priority Area 2 of the EUSDR
On Wednesday, 20th of November 2024, Medjimurje Energy Agency Ltd. participated in the 29th Steering Group meeting for Priority Area 2 – Sustainable Energy of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. During the meeting, Agency had the opportunity to present the Danube GeoHeCo project – Fostering the implementation of shallow geothermal hybrid heating and cooling systems in the Danube Region, funded under the Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021–2027.
The meeting was held in Budapest, Hungary, while the Danube GeoHeCo project was presented online to the meeting participants, alongside several other transnational projects focused on the promotion, application and development of sustainable energy funded through EU funds under different transnational programmes.
Given its focus on harnessing the potential of shallow geothermal energy in the Danube region, Danube GeoHeCo project directly supports the activities of the Priority Area 2 of the EU strategy for the Danube Region, which is why it was presented for the second year in a row during Steering Group meeting for Priority Area 2 – Sustainable Energy.
The presentation included an overview of the activities carried out since January 2024 and the initial results achieved during the first year of project implementation. Additionally, the first transnational conference of the Danube GeoHeCo project, scheduled for the next year, was announced.
