Challenges and Opportunities for Circular Economy: Evidence from the DECIDE Project in Serbia

On 18th October 2024, researchers Nemanja Berber, Goran Vasić and Milica Vračarić from Regional agency for the development of small and medium size enterprises Alma Mons Ltd. Novi Sad presented their ground-breaking paper “Challenges and Opportunities for Circular Economy: Evidence from the DECIDE Project in Serbia”, at the esteemed international scientific conference Circular Economy: Trends and Perspectives. The conference, held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš, brought together leaders and experts to discuss the latest trends and innovations shaping the global circular economy.

The authors’ presentation delved into the findings of the DECIDE Project in Serbia, shedding light on the critical barriers and potential solutions for advancing circular economic practices in the region. Their research offers valuable insights into how Serbia can transition toward sustainable economic models, emphasizing the role of policy, innovation and community engagement.

“Our work underscores both the challenges and the immense opportunities Serbia faces in adopting circular economy principles,” said Nemanja Berber. “By leveraging local strengths and addressing key obstacles, we can make meaningful progress toward sustainability.”
