Since the beginning of the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in June 2011, Slovenian and Serbian partners have been working together to manage and facilitate the coordination of the Priority Area 1b: "To improve mobility and multimodality – rail, road and air links". The project encourages both PACs in their efforts to continue stable, effective, inclusive and innovative implementation of this Priority Area, which improves the cooperation between all participating countries and regions represented in the Steering Group. Also in the next six years, all efforts will be made to achieve the continuation of main objectives already identified in the past by EUSDR PA1b. In particular it will: - support SG work through the organisation of Steering Group meetings and regular contacts with SG members by (mobile) phone or/and e-mail; - keep strong links with EUSDR governance structures (EUSDR Governance bodies, DG REGIO, NCs, DSP) and DTP; - support exchange of experience and best practices with all relevant actors of the PA through the organisation of stakeholder conferences and other stakeholder events (seminars, workshops). The aim of these events is to gather the stakeholders of the Priority Area to follow up the ongoing implementation, discuss current issues, solve bottlenecks of the implementation and develop new project ideas; - contribute to alignment of regional and national transport policies with the EU transport policy by cooperation with the European Commission (DG REGIO, DG MOVE and DG NEAR); - facilitate and support ongoing and planned projects, as well as project initiatives or ideas relevant for the Danube region. If needed the work might be modified in order to be aligned with new, upcoming EU policies and in particular the EU transport policy.
