The Circular DigiBuild Conference, "Disruptive technologies, circular economy & the building industry in Danube region” has gathered nearly 70 participants in Varna.
Partners have gathered for a 3-day hybrid networking and cluster R&I meeting in Bulgaria to identify how to change the future and the emerging technological paradigms with the highest potential to boost circularity in the construction sector and related policies, and co-create concepts for the cluster to be registered within the project framework.
Over 3 days, experts, innovators, and policy-makers from across the Danube region explored how disruptive technologies and circular economy principles can reshape the construction industry.
Partners started with a focus on “Construction, digitalisation and circular economy - insights from partners’ countries”.
The Bulgarian strategy for digitalization and digitization of the construction sector as a driver of change in the industry was presented by Mrs. Angelina Boneva, former Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, 2023-2024
The initiative Cyrkl and Digital Marketplace: Good Practices in Selective Demolition and Pre-demolition Audits in Slovak Republic was presented by Mrs, Zuzana Špuntová - Project Manager & Waste specialist at Cyrkl Company.
The potential of geospatial technologies for circular economy in building sector in Slovak Republic was presented by Mr. Martin Tuchyňa - GeoICT & Environmental infrastructure coordinator at the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic.
The recent developments in the construction and digitalization sectors in the Czech Republic were presented by Ing. Eva Vintrová - Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO).
Next Ing. arch. Kristýna Schulzová, Ph.D. from the University Centre for Energy Effi cient Buildings (UCEEB) at CTU in Prague, Czech Republic, presented the digital activities of UCEEB’s sustainability and circularity lab.
Aftre that another Interreg Danube project – the Decorator project, was presented by Gašper Juvančič, Project Manager, in quest for synergy opportunities between both projects.
On the second day the spotlight was on the pilot projects developed across the Danube region – real-world experiments that put circular economy and digital innovation into action in the construction sector.
From AI-powered material tracking to blockchain-based platforms and circular renovation approaches — project partners partners were presenting tangible solutions that prove transformation is not only possible, but already happening.
These pilots are paving the way for a transnational innovation cluster that will scale sustainable practices across borders.
On the third day the partners have worked together in a very vivid and fruitful co-creation workshop to design the concept of the Trans-danubian cluster for circular digitalised construction - DANUBE CiDiCon, one of the major goals of the project.
