Strengthening mentoring capacities for sustainable knowledge transfer across the Danube Region

Output 2.8 presents the Danube4SEecosystem Programme for Effective Mentor Training, developed to strengthen the capacities of mentors supporting Social Enterprises (SEs) and Local Public Authorities (LPAs) across the Danube Region. Building on the previous pilot actions and the D4SEE educational platform, the programme provides a structured mentoring framework that combines methodological guidance, digital tools and practical learning resources to facilitate effective knowledge transfer and long-term capacity building.

The programme was developed through a co-designed and piloted process involving project partners and relevant stakeholders. During the pilot phase, the mentoring methodology, digital learning environment and practical mentoring tools were jointly tested, validated and continuously refined based on participant feedback. This collaborative approach ensured that the programme responds to the different organisational needs and regional contexts while maintaining a common methodological framework across the Danube Region.

The mentor training programme follows a two-step capacity-building approach. The initial "Train the Mentors" phase equips mentors with the knowledge, methodological background and digital competences required to effectively use the D4SEE educational platform and support mentoring activities. This is followed by national mentoring sessions where mentors, experts and stakeholders apply the methodology in practice, explore the platform's learning resources, test its functionalities and exchange experiences on integrating mentoring into their professional activities.

The programme provides a comprehensive mentoring framework covering learning objectives, mentor competences, learning pathways, platform functionalities, monitoring mechanisms and quality assurance principles. It also introduces practical guidance on mentoring methodologies, communication, assessment, progress monitoring, certification, content reuse and the use of digital tools available through the D4SEE Platform, enabling mentors to organise, deliver and evaluate mentoring activities in a structured and effective way.

Beyond documenting the pilot implementation, the report demonstrates the strong sustainability and transferability of the mentoring programme. Through its modular structure, digital learning environment and flexible delivery formats, the programme can continue to support mentoring initiatives, training programmes, university courses, advisory services and capacity-building activities after the project's completion. By strengthening mentoring competences and facilitating long-term knowledge transfer, the programme contributes to the continued development of resilient social economy ecosystems across the Danube Region.
