DanubeSediment_Q2 Stakeholder Meeting in Craiova Strengthens Cooperation for Sustainable Sediment Management
On 2 April 2026, the DanubeSediment_Q2 project consortium held its second Romanian stakeholder meeting in Craiova, hosted by the Jiu Water Basin Administration at its headquarters. The meeting focused on stakeholder consultation activities for the Bechet–Corabia pilot area, covering the Danube sector between the ports of Bechet and Corabia.
The event brought together representatives from relevant institutions and organisations to exchange knowledge, discuss ongoing activities, and strengthen cooperation on integrated sediment management in the Danube Basin.
During the meeting, participants were introduced to the DanubeSediment_Q2 project partnership, its main objectives, and the key activities currently being implemented across the project regions. The consortium also presented the results and deliverables achieved so far, alongside ongoing work and planned activities within the Bechet–Corabia pilot area.
The stakeholder consultation was organised in close collaboration with colleagues from the Jiu and Argeș–Vedea Water Basin Administrations, with valuable support from the Someș–Tisa Water Basin Administration as associated partner. Their contribution played an important role in facilitating productive discussions and stakeholder engagement at regional level.
The meeting once again highlighted the importance of open dialogue, cross-sector cooperation, and active stakeholder involvement in addressing sediment-related challenges along the Danube. Through continuous collaboration between institutions, experts, and local stakeholders, the DanubeSediment_Q2 project aims to support sustainable and integrated sediment management solutions that contribute to the long-term resilience of the Danube River Basin.
We would like to sincerely thank all participants for their interest, valuable input, and active engagement throughout the meeting.
