📍 Dorćol Platz, Belgrade
📅 May 31, 2025

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, an interactive workshop titled “Think Sustainably – Build Responsibly” was successfully held at Dorćol Platz in Belgrade. The event was organized as part of the international Interreg project DECORATOR, in collaboration between the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Forestry and the Mikser Festival.

The workshop gathered students and young professionals from the fields of architecture and design, with the goal of developing innovative and sustainable solutions for contemporary construction through a multidisciplinary, participatory, and artistic approach.

The program began with a series of inspiring lectures by David Jablonski, designer and co-founder of the climate visualization collective Klimadashboard; Prof. Nataša Perković from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo; Prof. Dr. Goran Milić from the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade; and Daniel Podmirseg, an Austrian architect dedicated to vertical farming. These talks were part of the Next Gen Design cycle within the design segment of the Mikser Festival. During a shared lunch, participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences with the winners of the European competition of the same name, as well as with young designers from across Europe.

The afternoon session was dedicated to practical work. Under the mentorship of Professor Jelena Matić, participants developed conceptual solutions based on Cradle to Cradle (C2C) principles and modern sustainable practices. The focus was placed on a specific case study—the wooden floor of the atrium at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade—which served as a basis for rethinking functional, environmentally responsible, and creative spatial interventions.

The co-creation and co-ideation workshops (Pilot 4) were conceived as a platform for learning, dialogue, and experimentation, aiming to connect education, art, and sustainable practices in architecture and design. It also sought to empower young professionals and promote responsible approaches to shaping a sustainable future for the built environment. The workshop is part of the broader European project DECORATOR, which aims to foster innovation and circular approaches in the construction sector across Europe.
