"New European Bauhaus: from principles to reality" in SP2025

Sustainable Places 2025 - Milano + online - 9th October 2025

The New European Bauhaus (NEB) envisions to re-think our living spaces, so they become more sustainable, beautiful and inclusive. It develops an approach at the crossroads of disciplines (art, science, engineering), aiming at citizen’s and communities’ empowerment. In less than five years, the New European Bauhaus has gained momentum in the European research community. But how are we implementing the NEB values is practice? This session proposes to discuss with participants how some R&D projects have embodied the NEB values in their practice, exemplified by a selection of tools and approaches. The idea is to exchange on practical values exemplified by a selection of tools and approaches. Participants will discuss what has worked so far, what has not, why, and how we could improve. The approaches and tools to be presented and discussed cover various topics, from urban planning to energy communities, from material science to indoor air quality monitoring:
