HARMONMISSIONS kick-off meeting
On 19-20 March 2024, the initial meeting of the project consortium took place in the premises of the CTI SR.
The HARMONMISSIONS project, which is led by the Centre for Scientific and Technological Information, started to be implemented from 1 January 2024.
The consortium consists of 11 partners from a total of nine countries in the Danube Region. The project was successful in the first round of the Interreg Danube call for proposals, being among the final 60 projects out of 290 project proposals approved by the Interreg Danube Steering Authority.
In addition to an introductory presentation of the HARMONMISSIONS project to the general public, the first day of the meeting was also devoted to presenting the overall importance of the EU Missions, synergies with other projects approved under Horizon Europe and best practices in the implementation of the EU Missions.
Project aims and objectives
The main objective of the HARMONMISSIONS project is to "harmonise" the implementation of EU missions at the level of the countries and regions of the Danube Region.
Currently, there are significant differences in the level of understanding, set-up and implementation of EU Missions not only between the countries of the Danube Region, but also between European regions. Therefore, the project will aim to minimize these differences and help to set up an effective mission management model at the Danube Region level.
In the HARMONMISSIONS project, the project consortium will focus on the climate-oriented areas of the EU Missions, namely missions:
1.Adaptation to Climate Change;
4.100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030.
The main pillars in the project activities are:
- Set up a new governance model for EU Missions in the Danube Region. The Steering Committee and Advisory Groups will help to connect and involve actors from different levels in the EU Missions.
- Create three online platforms to facilitate the search for current project calls, partners and other necessary information on climate-oriented EU Missions.
- Raise awareness, foster cooperation and train staff on EU Missions through awareness-raising, training and brokerage events.
At the consortium kick-off meeting, the individual activities for these main project pillars were discussed in more detail. During the meeting, the consortium agreed on the necessary details and set the immediate project objectives, such as nominating experts for the Steering Committee and the Climate Mission Advisory Groups, or determining the timing and specific location of the events.
The HARMONMISSIONS project will organise a number of information events, training activities, workshops and brokerage events, which will be actively promoted. Planned project events and news will be shared to a wide group of stakeholders.
