InDiMaND Project Launch in Budapest, Hungary

InDiMaND Project Launched with Successful Budapest Meeting and High-Level Strategic Support

Budapest, 26–27 May 2025 – Following the online kick-off held earlier in 2025, the partners of the InDiMaND (Integrated Disaster Management Network in the Danube Region) project met in person at the 1st Planning Workshop in Budapest. This two-day event marks a significant milestone in developing the Danube Region’s disaster management network, focusing on finalizing operational tasks and the strategic framework.

High-Level Opening and Programme Management Guidance

The event was honored by the presence of the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development and by the EU Strategy for the Danube Region Environmental Risks Priority Area (EUSDR PA5).

Project Overview

InDiMaND is implemented under the Danube Region Programme 2021–2027 (Priority 2.2). The 36-month initiative has a total budget of EUR 1,915,120 (80% EU co-financed).

Lead Partner: Budapest Firefighter Association (BTSZ) – Hungary.

Partnership: 13 project partners from 9 countries, supported by 17 Associated Strategic Partners. The consortium covers the full professional spectrum, including national authorities, academic institutions, and volunteer rescue organizations.

Focus on Collective Safety

The project aims to establish a transnational network providing effective responses to environmental risks threatening the Danube Region, such as floods, wildfires, and heatwaves. Key activities focus on reinforcing regional coordination, enhancing interoperability, and promoting sustainable volunteer involvement, particularly among youth.

Participants at the Budapest meeting agreed that the InDiMaND project is essential for complementing the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) and strengthening the region's overall resilience.

BY JOINING FORCES AND IMPLEMENTING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS, WE ARE BUILDING A SAFER, MORE PREPARED, AND RESILIENT DANUBE REGION FOR ALL ITS CITIZENS!
