By training, Zita Török is a chemist, but as she puts it, she's tried almost everything else along the way. She started gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic, first growing vegetables before becoming increasingly interested in native wildflowers and pollinator protection. When she couldn't find a wildflower seed mix made from native Hungarian or European species and designed to support pollinators, she decided to create one herself – and that's how Vadvirágom was born.

Today, Vadvirágom is run by a small, growing team and offers nearly 200 native Hungarian wildflower species, available individually or in carefully composed seed mixes. Most of the seeds come from Hungarian growers and collectors, and Zita herself also collects seeds along the Danube riverbank.

Vadvirágom reflects many of the values at the heart of PlaceCRAFT: strengthening the connection between people, local landscapes, and native biodiversity. Through her work, Zita encourages people to rediscover the natural heritage of their surroundings and to support it in their own gardens.

As a locally rooted initiative, Vadvirágom offers an inspiring example of how specialist knowledge can contribute to community awareness and local identity. By combining education, biodiversity, and native species, the initiative demonstrates how small businesses can help preserve local values while encouraging people to engage more closely with the places where they live.
