Mapping the Path to Greener Heat: REHEATEAST Scoping Document Now Available
New REHEATEAST Publication Highlights Key Strategies for Greening District Heating and Cooling in the Eastern Danube Region
The REHEATEAST project has just published a new report showcasing promising approaches to optimizing district heating and cooling (DHC) systems across the Eastern Danube Region. The scoping report consolidates a wide range of technical, digital, regulatory, and stakeholder-inclusive measures that support the shift toward renewable energy use, waste heat integration, and higher overall system efficiency.
From advanced control systems and energy source diversification to stakeholder engagement and digital analytics, the report outlines practical solutions tested across pilot sites in several countries.Special focus is given to transnational community lab pilots, including demand-side actions integrating community engagement, advanced technologies, and innovative policies, as well as supply-side pilots targeting heat and cooling sources, infrastructure for energy supply, and network management systems.
This new resource is an essential reference for municipalities, utilities, and policymakers working to modernize DHC systems while fostering cross-sector collaboration and long-term climate resilience.
