National Stakeholder Meeting in Hungary
On November 28, 2025, the Association of Cultural Heritage Managers (KÖME) and Westpannon Nonprofit Kft. jointly organized the first Hungarian workshop of the international project Roman Legacy in Százhalombatta. The event was a key milestone in the project, as it was the first professional meeting where participants could discuss the current interpretation and future role of Roman heritage.
The aim of the Roman Legacy project is to promote and present the Roman limes heritage in an attractive way, creating an opportunity to present the common historical past of the regions along the Danube to the public in a unified, sustainable and experiential form. The initiative aims not only to strengthen cultural tourism, but also to connect local communities, institutions, and heritage preservation actors to this historically significant European network in new ways.
At the meeting in Százhalombatta, the two Hungarian project partners presented the main directions and expected results of the project, with particular emphasis on the joint branding concept currently being developed, which will create a unified image and narrative framework for the entire duration of the project. Participants shared their experiences of local interpretations of Roman heritage and how archaeological heritage can be presented to the general public in a modern, interactive and sustainable way. The workshop also provided an opportunity for experts, local government representatives, museum and tourism professionals to build new partnerships and jointly explore opportunities for cooperation between regions.
The event confirmed in every respect that the Hungarian partners are active participants in the project and represent significant value in the cultural cooperation of the Danube region. The joint discussions revealed that the experiential presentation of Roman heritage can not only increase tourist appeal, but also contribute to strengthening local identity and expanding international cultural relations.
The project will continue in the coming months with further workshops and site visits, during which the project partners will work together to develop methods for presenting Roman heritage. The organizers encourage all interested parties to follow the new results and events of the Roman Legacy project and to join in the joint effort.
