Symposium: Circularity in Bio-Based Materials

On October 14, 2024, RTIT>> project partner, Wood K Plus, hosted a symposium in Linz, Austria, focused on "Circularity in Bio-Based Materials." This event, organized in collaboration with the RTIT>> project, aimed to enhance scientific and economic connections within the Danube Region, specifically in material technology and research. 

The symposium was opened with remarks from Vice Rector for Research and Internal Affairs at JKU Linz, Albert Bonanni, and CEO of Wood K Plus, Boris Hultsch, who welcomed ten speakers: Lea Ranacher, Barbara Giehmann, Claudia Mair-Bauernfeind, Anna Sandak, Miriam Unterlass, Petra Gruber, Wolfgang Gindl-Altmutter, Clemens Wolf, Martin Kuska-Weigl, and Juan Viera Dorrega. 

The presenters gave insights that bridged technical and socio-economic perspectives. Topics of discussion encompassed not only R&D activities but also areas such as EU policies, social life cycle assessments, safety and sustainability by design, living architecture, engineered living materials, reclaimed wood, water harnessing for sustainable material synthesis and processing, and the global bioeconomy.
