Founded in Croatia in 1997, RIT Croatia is a private, non-profit research institute and higher education institution with 2 campuses in Croatia, one in Dubrovnik and one in Zagreb. It currently offers four Bachelor's degree programmes: Hospitality and Tourism Management, Global Business Management, Information-Technology/Web and Mobile Computing and New Media Design. RIT is a diverse and engaged community of students, alumni, faculty and staff built on collaboration, partnership, friendship and respect.

RIT's role in SMILE is to contribute to the catalogue of main types of youth participation and social media messaging and conduct a regional audit of the situation of youth participation in the Danube region and also contribute to the development of capacity-building tools for social media leadership. It will also lead the Curriculum of a capacity-building program for rural youth.
