Position paper on social media, leadership, and rural youth participation in the Danube Region

The position paper will, in a comprehensive way, cover the main developments in the fields of social media, leadership and participation (with a focus on the young rural population) in the Danube region. It will map the situation in relevant areas and provide insight into detecting the main opportunities, challenges and obstacles for upgrading social media leadership skills. It will be prepared based on three workshops organised to conduct the regional audit of the situation. The first workshop will deal with social media issues, the second workshop will discuss issues related to the participation of rural youth, and the third workshop will discuss issues related to youth leadership.

O.1.2

Policy guidelines and recommendations with strategy for strengthening social media and leadership skills

Based on a mapping of the situation in the Danube Region, we will develop policy guidelines to strengthen social media skills and civic participation of youth in rural areas. The document will take into account the characteristics of rural communities as well as the specifics of individual parts of the Danube Region. It will provide policymakers with recommendations on improving the institutional environment to enable young people to take on community leadership roles. The document will present a strategy that will include measures to strengthen competencies related to social media mastery of the rural youth, promote public engagement of rural youth, and prepare them to assume leadership roles in their communities.

Action plan for strengthening social media and leadership skills

The document will cover a detailed action plan for implementing measures to strengthen social media and leadership skills, promote public engagement among rural youth, and prepare them to assume leadership roles in their communities. The action plan will be designed taking into account the specifics of the different parts of the Danube Region. It will support the relevant target groups of the project in reflecting on their existing practices and guiding their improvement.

SMILE Incubator badge

A digital badge serves as a tool to highlight achievements, participation, and interests. In the context of rural youth leadership in social media, these badges are awarded to youth organisations that meet certain criteria to raise awareness in this field. The badge symbolises open support and credentials and allows others to learn more about the content of the SMILE Incubator. The badge is a visual recognition tool encouraging further engagement and participation in related initiatives.
