TRANSDINARICA2 Presented at the Danube Region Capitalization and Networking Event in Belgrade

On 25 and 26 June 2026, Belgrade (Serbia) hosted partners, project representatives and institutional stakeholders from across the Danube Region during a two-day event dedicated to cooperation, knowledge exchange and the future of sustainable cultural and tourism development.

Organised by the Danube Competence Center (DCC) as the local host, the event brought together the Capitalization Event of the 1st and 2nd Call Danube Region Programme projects, the EUSDR Priority Area 3 Steering Committee Meeting, and the Danube Wood(s) Route Partner Meeting. This joint format provided an important platform for connecting projects that address similar challenges in the fields of heritage, culture and tourism.

As a partner in the TRANSDINARICA2 project, the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia presented the project’s contribution to sustainable tourism development in the Danube and Western Balkans region. The presentation focused on the Trans Dinarica cycling route as a tool for connecting destinations, local communities and tourism stakeholders through cross-border cooperation.

TRANSDINARICA2 was presented alongside ten other Interreg Danube Region Programme projects, including CAST, Culinary Trail, Danube Crafts, Danube Wood(s) Route, Dinamic Danube, Mystical Danube, NONA, Roman Legacy, #RomansWineDanube and SrEST. The project presentation highlighted key activities such as pilot actions, stakeholder engagement, cycling tourism development, support for sustainable destination management and the creation of cycling hubs along the route.

The event also included an open discussion on how project results can be transformed into sustainable tourism products and continue creating value beyond the funding period. Participation in the event strengthened the visibility of TRANSDINARICA2 within the Danube Region Programme and created opportunities for further cooperation with partners working on culture, heritage and sustainable tourism.
