United for NEETs: International Partner Meeting in Tuzla

Project partners successfully reviewed the first year's progress and started a strategic planning for the second year

At the end of February, the partner organisations of the Back on Track EU project gathered in Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina, to reflect on the first project year and plan the next steps. The transnational meeting was hosted by the Bosnian organisation NERDA, which welcomed partners from Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.

The central focus of the meeting was the First Year Review, where partners analysed the progress made so far with a clear conclusion: Back on Track is on the right path. The partners discussed the initiatives already implemented, including the development of a joint strategy and ten country-specific action plans aimed at fostering sustainable outreach to young people not in employment, education, or training (NEETs) in rural areas.

Additionally, the implementation of new initiatives was discussed:

  • Mentoring Programme: A pilot phase will be launched in five countries to train future mentors, followed by mentoring sessions for NEETs.

  • Psychosocial Support: A specially designed curriculum will help NEETs navigate mental health challenges.

  • Digital Resources: The development of a digital career guide and new online courses for NEETs is progressing.

Future events were also planned, including a policy event and a digital career fair on the Digitalisation of Work.

The intensive discussions and in-person exchanges once again highlighted the value of this international collaboration. With clear goals and strong partnerships, Back on Track is now entering its second project year with confidence.
