Capacity Building Academy XI

A growing trend for the innovative and modern development of the tourism sector through digitalization tools is becoming increasingly evident. At the latest Capacity Building Academy, the regional tourism organisation TO Vojvodina presented the ViCtour project, whose main objective is to contribute to this goal by developing attractive, dynamic and competitive tourism promotion, increasing the attractiveness of cross-border regions through the use of IT tools and ensuring better management of cultural and natural heritage.

The key values of TO Vojvodina are divided into two main areas: tourism development and policy focus. These include innovation, humanity, sustainability and community, as well as care for local heritage. The main target groups are domestic and international tourists, as well as local businesses in the tourism sector. The tourism organization considers one of its biggest strengths as the ability to work closely with different minorities in the region, positioning itself as an important bridge between different groups.

ViCTour follows the same logic: its objective is to create a more unified regional, continental tourism model by establishing thematic routes that connect regions across Serbia and Croatia.

Combining technology with cultural heritage is not only important for TO Vojvodina, but also for the other project partners. They showed strong interest in the innovations introduced within the project, including the creation of VR figures for exhibitions and digital images that merge the historical and present-day appearance of a site into one visual experience.

The session ended with an engaging discussion about the common challenge of turning ideas into market-ready experiences and meaningfully integrating digital tools into tourism offers.
