CAST Capacity Building Academy I.
Iskriva launched the CAST Capacity Building Academy in May with an introduction to the New European Bauhaus (NEB).
The Capacity Building Academy is a series of training sessions for cultural and tourism professionals to expand their knowledge, broaden their horizons and explore new methodologies. By presenting case studies from individual areas of expertise and encouraging collaboration with local communities, the sessions aim to provide the competencies needed to turn culture into an active resource for social inclusion and economic growth.
During the first session, Iskriva presented the NEB, starting with its historical roots: the Bauhaus. This was a movement that developed in the first half of the 20th century in Germany, connecting art, technology and the production process and thereby enabling a holistic approach to creating original solutions.
Building on this idea, the NEB was introduced in 2020 as part of the Green Deal, enabling the green transition within Europe’s society and economy by promoting innovation, ambition and creativity.
The core values are:
Sustainable
Beautiful
Together
The working principles are:
Participatory process
Multi-level engagement
Transdisciplinary approach
The capacity-building session aimed to strengthen partners’ understanding of why and how the NEB can support their individual pilot actions by integrating the values and principles into their development planning. Examples of the NEB in practice included the New European Bauhaus on the Danube as well as the revitalisation of a former steel factory in the Korośka region of Slovenia, which is Iskriva's pilot action as part of CAST.
