SCOM meeting in Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci, Serbia | 17-19th March 2026

From March 17th to 19th, the fourth SCOM meeting of the CAST project took place in Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci, bringing together 13 partners from 10 countries. Over two intensive working days, participants exchanged experiences, presented the progress of project activities, and explored the region’s tourism and cultural offerings.

Morning working sessions were held during both days and featured partner reports, analysis of previousresults, and the definition of next steps for project implementation. Thematic areas guided these workshops. Participants discussed key topics and analysed previously conducted interviews. Poster sessions exchanged ideas and suggestions for cultural heritage and social values. Then, workshops focused on planning pilot activities and the partners cooperatively created next steps and implementation plans.

In addition to the working sessions, a study program consisting of destination visits was organized. The first day included visits to significant cultural and historical sites, including Sremski Karlovci, the Živanović Winery, and the Krušedol Monastery to highlight the region's rich heritage. The day also included visits to the ecological center, which educates youth, protects the environment and promotes community development, to Karlovci Grammar School, one of the oldest educational institutions in Serbia, and to the Patriarchal Court, an important cultural and historical landmark.

The second day of the trip included visits to key tourist attractions in Novi Sad. The program included the Petrovaradin Fortress, the City Museum (which had a special exhibit on Mileva Marić Einstein), and the Tourist Information Center. The day concluded with a city tour and a visit to the Gallery of Matica Srpska.

The meeting was an important opportunity to advance project activities and give partners insight into the region's cultural heritage and tourism assets. Such gatherings support project implementation, promote destinations, and strengthen international cooperation.
