Work on the new hybrid heating system at the Martjanci kindergarten is progressing steadily and remains on schedule.

On 7 July 2025, project partner LEA Pomurje officially launched the pilot investment as part of the Danube GeoHeCo project. During the first week of construction, the site was prepared, the first borehole successfully drilled, and geological conditions carefully assessed and monitored to ensure optimal drilling parameters. In the second week of July, drilling of the second geothermal borehole began immediately following the completion of the first. By 23 July 2025, both boreholes were fully drilled and cemented in full compliance with the project’s technical specifications.

With the drilling phase now complete, the project has entered its next key stage. The contractor has started work on the construction of the shafts and the installation of mechanical and electrical connections that will integrate the new geothermal system with the kindergarten’s existing boiler room infrastructure.

The completed system will function as a hybrid heating solution, combining a shallow geothermal energy source with the current heating oil furnace. This setup will significantly enhance energy efficiency and sustainability for the kindergarten’s heating needs.

The project remains in line with its planned timeline, supported by strong coordination between the project team, contractors, and municipal technical services, ensuring smooth and effective implementation.
