On Thursday, April 17, 2025, a public presentation of the pilot activities of the DECORATOR project was held in Zagreb, accompanied by social treasure hunt exploration as part of a broader initiative to rethink the built environment in the context of a sustainable, circular, and digital future of construction.

The DECORATOR project, in which the Croatian Chamber of Economy participates as a project partner responsible for the implementation of pilot activities in Croatia, is carried out under the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative within the Interreg Danube Region Programme. Its goal is to connect local communities, experts, and decision-makers through experimental spaces for joint learning and action. The project focuses on developing zero-waste practices, introducing new materials and technologies, and valorizing local cultural heritage and traditional knowledge within the context of contemporary construction.

As part of the event, a social treasure hunt was organized, bringing together citizens, architects, and other interested stakeholders. Participants discussed examples of best and worst practices in construction, explored both innovative and traditional building  and reflected on the built environment as a resource of valuable materials, knowledge, and inspiration for future projects.

This event marks the first in a series of planned pilot activities to be held across the region, aiming to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen communities, and promote the application of sustainable models in practice. DECORATOR is becoming a platform for creating new connections between the past, present, and future of building—grounded in circularity, inclusiveness, and innovation.
