1st webinar on Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and Electricity Market Directive (EMD): legal framework for energy communities at EU level and ongoing discussions in the European Parliament
ESINERGY project, led by the Local Energy Agency Pomurje from Slovenia (LEA Pomurje) with support from the Interreg Danube Region Programme, involves collaboration between 12 countries within the Danube Region. The project's goal is to address one of the key challenges in modern energy technology, which is managing the imbalance between produced energy and load in the electrical grid. This issue is inadequate for future needs such as increasing consumption, energy demand, and other factors.
Both the Electricity Market Directive (EMD) and the Directive on the Promotion of Renewable Energies (RED) have been revised during the latest legislative process which finished by the publication of the following Directive in the Official Journal on 26 June 2024.
It will be explained the EU’s legislative processes and how the different Directives and legal documents relate to each other.
