Transnational round table
On 12th May 2025, a transnational round table titled “Advancing Forestry Career Orientation for Girls and Young Women” was successfully held, organized by project partner PRIZMA. The event brought together over 50 participants from 9 Danube Region countries, including representatives from the education sector, forestry institutions, public bodies, civil society organizations, and international partners.
The main goal of the event was to foster a joint dialogue on how to promote more inclusive and gender-sensitive approaches to career orientation in the forestry sector. Discussions focused on sharing national practices, evaluating common challenges, and identifying tools and models that can strengthen the visibility of careers.
Participants had the opportunity to:
· Learn about the recommendations of the Fem2forests research group for strengthening gender awareness in forestry institutions,
· Assess the feasibility of these recommendations in their own contexts,
· Propose additional strategies for integrating gender equality into career orientation and education,
· Explore nine good practices identified through the project.
One of the key takeaways was that hands-on learning, the visibility of female role models, and multi-sectoral partnerships significantly contribute to motivating young people- - especially girls - to consider forestry as a potential career path.
The round table served as a strong platform for cross-sectoral and cross-border exchange of ideas and as inspiration for future actions to be developed through the project’s pilot activities.
