Successful GeoNetSee Workshop Held in Slănic, Romania
The Municipality of Slănic, Prahova County, hosted a successful GeoNetSee workshop, bringing together local authorities, emergency management representatives, regional institutions, and project partners to discuss the role of innovative technologies in strengthening community resilience to geological hazards.
The event was attended by Mr. Costea Daneluș, Mayor of Slănic, representatives of local and regional institutions, and Colonel Alexandru Muscalu, Chief Inspector of the Prahova Emergency Situations Inspectorate.
An important part of the workshop was a field visit to all four locations where GeoNetSee monitoring sensors have been installed. Participants had the opportunity to see the system in operation and learn more about how AI- and IoT-based technologies can support real-time monitoring of ground movements and improve risk management and preparedness.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to discuss ways of strengthening communication and cooperation between researchers, local authorities, and emergency management institutions. The active participation and exchange of ideas demonstrated a shared commitment to improving preparedness and applying innovative solutions in communities exposed to geological hazards.
The Geological Institute of Romania team sincerely thanks everyone who contributed to this inspiring and productive event. Through science, innovation, and cooperation, the GeoNetSee project continues to support stronger partnerships and more resilient communities.
