Workshop in Sarajevo successfully completed
The GeoNetSee Period 5 Workshop and training on pilot actions was successfully held on 26–27 March 2026 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first day took place at the International Burch University and focused on the project’s overall progress, financial and communication aspects, as well as the presentation of current and upcoming activities across several work packages. Sessions also addressed cross-border pilot actions, pilot developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro, the DCC platform and its integration with pilot activities, as well as the development and validation of data models and AI algorithms for real-time facility monitoring and early risk forecasting. Additional technical presentations covered the development of hardware components and software implementation, including a review of MEMS accelerometers for movement detection and a power board compatible with the GeoNetSee system design specifications.
In the afternoon, the workshop continued with project management sessions, including the Steering Committee, Monitoring Committee, and Technical Panel meetings. The first day concluded with a wrap-up session and discussion of next steps, followed by a social dinner, providing an opportunity for further exchange among project partners.
The second day was dedicated to an on-site visit to the Curine Njive landslide pilot area near Sarajevo, where participants had the opportunity to observe pilot activities in the field and discuss implementation aspects directly at the site with representatives of BHBU and BHGS. The visit offered valuable practical insight into the GeoNetSee pilot actions and supported further knowledge exchange among project partners and stakeholders.
