Youth Mental Health Lab#1 - Czech Republic
Organised by DEX Innovation Centre, online, 14. 1. 2025The lab session under the MEET project gathered a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from state institutions, non-profits, the private sector, and educational experts. The session focused on enhancing youth mental health resilience and addressing challenges to integrating mental health topics into school environments in the Czech Republic.
This lab aimed to foster collaboration and innovation to support the mental health of young people. It provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, explore international best practices, and generate actionable solutions tailored to local needs.
Participants discussed barriers such as the decentralized education system, the conservative stance of some schools on mental health topics, and the lack of concrete examples from abroad. They reviewed case studies from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Bulgaria, emphasizing practices that address vulnerable groups, such as children in institutional care and marginalized communities.
The session identified the need for ongoing consultations and shared best practices to overcome structural and cultural obstacles. Attendees supported the development of two key tools under the MEET project:
● Toolbox for Experts: A set of practical guidelines and methods to implement mental health initiatives in schools and communities.
● Interactive Learning Materials for Youth: Digital resources, including games and exercises, designed to promote self-care and resilience among young people.
The final lab session, scheduled for March 25, 2025, will present these tools in detail and focus on their implementation. The MEET project continues to demonstrate how collaboration and innovation can transform youth mental health support in the Czech Republic.
