Youth Mental Health Lab#1 - Romania

Organised by Nevo Parodimus, Resita, 22. 11. 2024

The Living Lab workshop, organized by Asociația Nevo Parudimos Reșița as part of the MEET (Mental Well-being in Education for Disadvantaged Youth) project, brought together 16 participants, including representatives from civil society in Caraș-Severin County, educational advisors and instructors, mental health specialists, and youth workers. The event was led by the project manager and facilitated by a dedicated facilitator, aiming to create a collaborative platform for integrating mental health support strategies for young people at the local and regional levels.

Key objectives of the workshop included the evaluation and discussion of a catalog of best practices for addressing mental health challenges among youth. This catalog, developed within the MEET project, was intended to provide practical solutions and strategies for stakeholders working with disadvantaged youth. Participants reflected on the challenges faced by formal and non-formal education systems, social services, and youth organizations in promoting mental health and well-being. These challenges, exacerbated by societal pressures, academic stress, and limited access to resources, highlighted the need for innovative solutions.

The workshop emphasized the potential of "Living Labs," a concept central to the MEET project. These labs were designed to be interactive spaces fostering collaboration, innovation, and the development of sustainable practices in mental health. Participants shared experiences and insights, working together to build holistic strategies to address the complex nature of mental health issues and promote resilience among young people.

By uniting diverse perspectives and expertise, the Living Lab workshop represented a significant step toward improving mental well-being in education for disadvantaged youth.

As we reflect on these efforts, we are reminded of the power of collaboration and innovation to shape a future where every young person has the resources and support needed to thrive.
