DANUBE DAY

On the 29th of June each year, the 14 countries of the Danube Basin jointly celebrate one of Europe's greatest river systems and the people and wildlife that rely on it. Europe’s second largest waterway connects Central and Eastern Europe, flowing over 2 700 kilometers through ten countries—that’s more nations than any other river in the world. The Danube has had a front-row seat to some of Europe’s most significant moments in history and is home to four glittering capitals: Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava and Belgrade—plus numerous fascinating and legendary cities like Regensburg, Linz, Mohács, Vukovar, Ilok and Novi Sad. Along with the diverse ecosystem, the Danube is a source of drinking water and life for twenty million people.

Danube Day 2024 will be a special celebration because it also marks the 20th anniversary of Danube Day. We hope that in the future the mission launched by ICPDR under the motto #KeepDanubeBlue will be more and more successful! For more information: https://www.danubeday.org
