Through the Interreg Danube SMEnergy project, our Austrian partner, Business Agency Burgenland Research and Innovation Ltd., has identified "Klimaaktiv" ("Climate Active") as an institutional good practice in climate protection.

Implemented by the Austrian Energy Agency on behalf of the federal government, Klimaaktiv supports businesses by providing quality standards, professional training, advisory services, and a strong partner network. Covering key areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, and building renovation, the initiative complements existing climate protection subsidies and regulations.

Companies can benefit from subsidised consulting via regional programmes or receive direct guidance from Klimaaktiv. The initiative also closely cooperates with energy and environmental advisory centres across Austria, ensuring SMEs have access to expert training, publications, tools, and resources for their green transition.

SIEA – Pioneering Energy Efficiency and Renewable Solutions in Slovakia

The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA), plays a key role in implementing and monitoring energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives across Slovakia.

SIEA serves as an intermediate body for EU Structural Funds, providing subsidies, energy audits, free consultations, and expert training to support businesses and households in their green transition. Flagship programmes like Zelená podnikom and Zelená domácnostiam focus on increasing the adoption of renewable energy sources (RES), while the National Energy Efficiency Monitoring System ensures data-driven policy improvements.
