Exploring Island Krk’s Biodiversity Through Art

Nature and art have long been intertwined, and now, thanks to a creative collaboration between SReST project partner  DUBoak - Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center and the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka (APURI), Krk’s rich biodiversity has been captured through the artistic lens of young illustrators.

As part of the Pilot 1: Testing Agrobiodiversity Tourism Itineraries, the exhibition “Biodiversity and Agrobiodiversity of the Island of Krk” opened at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, bringing a fresh perspective on the diverse plant and animal life of the island. Created by undergraduate and graduate students of APURI, the illustrations celebrate the flora and fauna, the ecological balance and cultural significance of Krk’s natural heritage.

Following its successful opening in Rijeka, the exhibition has made its way to Malinska. Until March 31, visitors will have the opportunity to explore these captivating artworks at DUBoak - Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center.

This initiative exemplifies how creativity can be a powerful tool in raising awareness about environmental preservation and sustainable development.
