Local Producers from Primorsko-Notranjska Region Present their Products on Krk, Croatia

Study Visit as Part of the SReST Project

The Municipality of Postojna recently facilitated a study visit for two local food entrepreneurs to the vibrant island of Krk, Croatia. The visit took place in the context of the project’s partner meeting and the Sensa Cheese Festival.

This exchange aimed to empower local producers, expand their networks, and strengthen their capacity to connect with responsible tourism initiatives across the Danube region.

Authentic Flavours, Shared Stories

Local producers represented Notranjsko-Primorska region (Slovenia) and showcased their unique products that blend tradition, quality, and innovation. This personal engagement not only enriched the festival’s offer, but also reflected the project’s core goals of promoting local identity, community entrepreneurship, and environmentally responsible food tourism.

Building Bridges

For the producers, this visit was more than just an opportunity to showcase their products. It provided valuable insights into how similar businesses in other regions operate, how they connect with tourists and local communities, and how they integrate sustainability and social responsibility into their branding and daily practice.

Importantly, the study visit enabled transnational networking – creating potential for future collaborations, new customer bases, and shared learning. By interacting with fellow producers and stakeholders from across the Danube region, the participants had the opportunity to gain new ideas on expanding their visibility and diversifying their offerings, particularly in the context of sustainable and experience-driven tourism.

This activity is part of the SReST project’s broader mission to strengthen local food economies, support small producers, and develop socially responsible tourism models that create long-term value for communities, visitors, and the environment alike.

The Municipality of Postojna continues to support local stakeholders in co-creating sustainable tourism futures – rooted in authenticity, resilience, and cooperation.
