Danube-ADAPT 2nd Transnational Partner Meeting in Cluj-Napoca

On January 27–28, 2026, the city of Cluj-Napoca hosted the Transnational Partner Meeting of the Danube-ADAPT project, organized by the Cluj-Napoca City Hall in partnership with Babeș-Bolyai University. The event brought together project partners and associated partners from countries in the Danube Region.

Day 1.

The day was opened by the host, Cluj-Napoca City Hall, and the Lead Partner, HungaroMet Hungarian Meteorological Service. This was followed by presentations by the Thematic Working Group on observed database development and model database development.

Within the framework of SO2, HungaroMet and Babeș-Bolyai University presented methodologies for assessing climate vulnerability and risk maps, which are essential tools for making decisions in the public interest.

In the second half of the day, participants took part in a risk inventory workshop, followed by a presentation by Research Institute for National Strategy on communication issues related to the project.

Day 2.

Following the previous stages focusing on preliminary analyses, the event in Cluj-Napoca featured a presentation of the pilot projects organized by REGEA and UBB, with a particular focus on identifying and managing major climate risks at the regional level, such as floods, heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfall, landslides, and other extreme weather events.

The second half of the day was devoted to project management issues, and the Lead Partner HungaroMet concluded by presenting the next steps and objectives for the coming period.

Another two days of cooperation to strengthen the Danube region's resilience to climate change!
