“Entrepreneurship Done Right!” – Wood Industry and Creative Enterprise Development Workshop

On 26 November 2025, the Hungarian Furniture and Wood Association held its “Entrepreneurship Done Right!” workshop in Pécs, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Pécs. Its aim was to present the industry context, highlight entrepreneurial opportunities, and provide practical, applicable knowledge.

The workshop focused on the future of design, the wood sector and creative enterprises, as well as sustainable, locally grounded business practices. Additionally, it addressed growth potential within the wood and furniture industries, with emphasis on regional value chains, custom design, and cultural heritage–based branding.

Main Topics of the Workshop

The programme was structured around six main thematic areas and one supplementary module:

  1. The current state of the wood industry

  2. Legislation and industry standards

  3. Entrepreneurial foundations

  4. Pricing and profit strategies

  5. Marketing and communication practices

  6. The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business operations

  7. +1) Fundamentals of the project mindset

The workshop took place in two segments, the first focused on background knowledge related to the wood sector and regulatory frameworks. The second explored practical aspects of starting and operating a business. Participants engaged actively through questions, exercises, and case studies, sharing their own experiences and insights.

Results and Summary

The workshop successfully fulfilled its objectives: participants gained practical, up-to-date knowledge applicable across various areas of wood-industry-focused entrepreneurship. The programme contributed to:

  • strengthening competencies related to wood-industry heritage,

  • shaping the entrepreneurial mindset of young professionals,

  • encouraging conscious pricing and communication practices,

  • familiarising participants with modern technologies (AI),

  • promoting the adoption of a project-oriented approach within the wood and creative sectors.

According to participant feedback, the workshop was professionally valuable, motivating and inspiring. As an important professional component of the Danube Wood(s) Route project, the “Entrepreneurship Done Right!” workshop effectively supported the development of wood industry and creative enterprises. The programme presented an integrated perspective on the characteristics of the wood sector, the basics of entrepreneurial operations, modern pricing and marketing techniques, AI applications, and key project management principles. The interactive and collaborative atmosphere greatly contributed to deepening professional knowledge and enhancing participants’ competencies.
