VEDA Highlights the DANUBE WOOD(s) ROUTE Project at the “Sustainable Practices in Black Sea Tourism” Event
At the invitation of the Varna University of Management, representatives of VEDA participated in the collaborative event “Sustainable Practices in Black Sea Tourism”, organized under the INTERSMARTS project: Interdisciplinary Solutions for Smart Sustainable Tourism and Blue Growth Services in the Black Sea Basin.
Within the framework of the event, participants engaged in World Café sessions focused on identifying real challenges and solutions in the tourism sector and exploring opportunities offered by the INTERSMARTS platform for innovation management.
A special part of VEDA’s presentation was dedicated to the DANUBE WOOD(s) ROUTE project, which promotes the sustainable use of forest heritage, cultural traditions, and local wood-related craftsmanship along the Danube Region. The project’s goals and recent achievements were presented as examples of how sustainable tourism can connect natural and cultural heritage while supporting local communities.
VEDA also shared updates on its other initiative, TOURISMO, which contributes to sustainable tourism and innovation across Europe.
The event brought together more than 20 representatives from the hotel and restaurant industry, education, and the non-governmental sector. Participants exchanged valuable feedback on topics such as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for monitoring tourist flows in Varna, challenges in implementing European projects, and ideas for future training sessions.
VEDA expressed its appreciation to the Varna University of Management and all participants for the inspiring collaboration and shared vision for a more sustainable and innovative future of tourism in the Black Sea region.
