28th February: World Cafe in Hungary

DECORATOR presentation by PBN at the World Cafe event
PPT

The Local World Café served as a platform for discussing issues within the construction industry, with a particular focus on Hungary. The discussions were structured around two main topics:

Circular Challenges: In connection with the circular challenges, the management of various construction and demolition wastes came up as a topic most of the time, and that a good solution could be to think about creating a green roof planting medium from possible wastes (bricks and tiles). In addition, alternative solutions were discussed in order to minimize insulation waste, such as clay or straw.

Construction industry and digitalization: On this topic, the participants agree that the problem described in the paper is very current and that there is an increasingly urgent need to use the opportunities provided by digitalization in the planning, construction, and demolition of buildings.

The existing general problem (lack of digital plans of old buildings) for which the subsequent 3D scanning of the buildings can be a good solution. The cost of storing idle stocks was also discussed, and then a proposal was made to create a possible online platform. The use of digital possibilities in the field of metalworking was also considered for the measurement of human efficiency, but here, in the first round, information collected based on experience would be necessary to map the data.

Overall, the Local World Café provided a collaborative space for stakeholders to exchange insights, propose innovative solutions, and collectively address challenges faced by the construction industry in Hungary. The discussions underscored the critical importance of embracing sustainable practices and harnessing digital technologies to drive progress and resilience within the sector.
