DRWO4.0 Final Conference

The final conference of the DRWO4.0 – Transformation Model for the Wood Industry in the Danube Region towards Industry 4.0 project was held in Vinkovci, Croatia, presenting the key results of a two-year international cooperation aimed at improving the wood-processing sector through digital and technological transformation. The project was co-funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme.

The conference brought together representatives of project partners from several European countries, as well as representatives of the wood industry, academia, development agencies, and business support institutions. During the event, participants presented the activities carried out within the project and the developed models and tools designed to support companies in their transition towards Industry 4.0 principles.

The DRWO4.0 project focused on strengthening the competitiveness of the wood industry in the Danube Region by developing an adaptable and applicable model for digital transformation, enhancing the capacities of small and medium-sized enterprises, and strengthening cooperation between industry, research institutions, and innovation support organizations.

During the final conference, the results of thematic workshops, study visits, and training sessions organized throughout the project were presented. Particular attention was given to the application of modern technologies in the wood-processing sector, including the digitalization of production processes, smart technologies, sustainable production, and the development of new products with higher added value.

Participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the exchange of knowledge and experience, highlighting that digital transformation represents a key step in strengthening the competitiveness of the wood industry in both European and global markets.

The DRWO4.0 project was implemented in partnership with 14 organizations from 11 countries in the Danube Region, with a total project budget of nearly €1.95 million. The final conference marked the formal conclusion of the project activities, while also opening the way for the practical application of the developed solutions and recommendations in the wood industry sector.
