Less Costs in the Wood Industry – Practical Steps Towards Smart Manufacturing

The workshop “Less Costs in the Wood Industry – Practical Steps Towards Smart Manufacturing” was successfully held, organized by the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Forestry.

We brought together more than 50 representatives of wood industry companies and academia for a workshop combining expert lectures and hands-on exercises focused on improving production efficiency and reducing waste.

Through a presentation by Culmena and an introduction to the CULIS methodology, participants gained insight into the LEAN approach and its application in real manufacturing environments.

Case studies and interactive sessions enabled participants to explore the presented concepts in practice and exchange experiences with peers from the sector.

Key takeaway:

Transformation does not begin with large investments, but with a clear understanding of processes and small, well-targeted improvements.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of EU funding as a driver for digitalization, process optimization, and the development of circular solutions in the wood industry.

The event was organized within the DRWO 4.0 project, with the support of the Interreg Danube Region Programme.
