DRWO4.0 Project featured at ICWSE 2025 in Brașov
The DRWO4.0 project was presented at the 14th International Conference on “Wood Science and Engineering in the Third Millennium” (ICWSE 2025), held in Brașov, Romania, from 6-8 November 2025. The project team contributed with a scientific presentation titled “Application-Oriented NIR Calibration Models as Digital Enablers in Circular Wood-Based Resource Chains”, highlighting the project’s applied research on digital integration in forestry-based industries.
The presentation showcased the development of NIR calibration models for predicting nitrogen and moisture content as well as detecting contamination in extruded fibers derived from composting. The study demonstrated the potential of NIR spectroscopy as a reliable, fast, and non-destructive method to support SMEs in digital process chains and improve the efficiency of material utilization in biogenic residue processing.
Participation in ICWSE 2025 provided an excellent opportunity for international scientific exchange and the dissemination of DRWO4.0 outcomes among researchers, industry experts, and stakeholders in the wood and bioeconomy sectors. The event further strengthened the visibility of the DRWO4.0 project and fostered collaboration in advancing intelligent, resource-efficient systems for sustainable wood processing.
The participation at ICWSE 2025 was supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme and co-funded by the European Union.
