DRWO4.0 Project Presented at the “Connecting Real Sector with Educational Institutions” Conference in Mostar
At the international conference titled “Connecting Real Sector with Educational Institutions”, held on June 17, 2025, at Hotel Buna near Mostar, the DRWO4.0 project was presented.
The conference gathered participants from both the education and business sectors to discuss key topics for the future of the wood industry, including:
· How to remain competitive in unstable markets;
· Sector resilience in retaining and increasing market share;
· Boosting domestic market demand;
· Enhancing competitiveness through product development and innovation;
· Investing in people and preserving expert knowledge and skills developed over decades in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Geopolitical instability is significantly affecting business operations, making investment in people just as crucial as investment in production modernization.
The conference was divided into four thematic blocks:
1. Education for the needs of the economy
2. Renewable energy sources
3. New technologies for export – networking platform
4. Opportunities for increased wood construction
The DRWO4.0 project was featured in the third and fourth blocks.
Panel discussions in block 3 addressed how to connect various actors in development of wood industry, while block 4 focused on trends in hotel furnishing and sustainable construction.
During the conference, Ms. Sanja Karanović, project manager of DRWO4.0, presented the project, which aims to modernize the wood industry in the Danube region through a transition to Industry 4.0. The project is supported under the Danube Region Programme 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Union.
