Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering, Transilvania University Brasov (TUB) – INTRODUCING ASSOCIATED STRATEGIC PARTNERS (ASP) IN THE DRWO4.0 PROJECT 11/18

Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering, Transilvania University Brasov (TUB) is an associated strategic partner of project partner KO-FA/PRO-WOOD within the DRWO4.0 project.

The faculty is the only institution in Romania training specialists in furniture design and wood product technology. An independent unit since 1959, it has been dedicated for over 58 years to wood and its applications, aiming to educate professionals for the wood industry. It offers education at all three university levels – bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral – supported by research activities aligned with the economic environment to ensure students are well-prepared for the sector.

🎯 Within the DRWO4.0 project, the faculty contributes through the following activities:

Participation in Pilot Environment East activities (Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova) as an associated strategic partner, transferring knowledge on the potential and opportunities for transforming the furniture sector according to Industry 4.0 standards (SO1, Activity 1.2)
Adapting existing scientific data on furniture design to make it usable for the development of new high-value-added products based on smart technologies (SO1, Activity 1.2)
Participation in capacity-building activities (SO2, Activity 2.1) and in the establishment of PE East (SO1, Activity 1.4), highlighting the role of higher education and research institutions in the transformation of the furniture sector towards I4.0
Engagement in the project manual review (SO3, Activity 3.2), providing feedback on its applicability and adaptation to industry needs

With its expertise and research capacity, the faculty contributes to effective knowledge dissemination and the implementation of innovative and digital solutions in transforming the furniture sector in Romania and beyond.
