Presentation of the Project Danube Region Wood Industry Transformation towards Industry 4.0 at the Workshop on Developing Circular Agribusiness Assisted by Artificial Intelligence
Cahul Business Centre, as a partner in the project Danube Region Wood Industry Transformation towards Industry 4.0 (DRWO4.0), on 26 of September 2025 showcased during the workshop “Developing Circular Agribusiness Assisted by Artificial Intelligence.” The event brought together experts, entrepreneurs, researchers and students from Cahul State University B.P.Hasdeu, and policy makers from Cahul Region, Republic of Moldova, to explore innovative approaches that link advanced digital technologies with sustainable and circular economic models in agriculture and related industries.
During the workshop, the project team presented promotional materials highlighting the objectives and expected impact of DRWO4.0. The initiative aims to accelerate the transformation of the wood industry across the Danube Region by integrating Industry 4.0 technologies—automation, digitalization, data-driven decision-making, and smart manufacturing—into traditional business models. This transformation is expected to strengthen competitiveness, improve resource efficiency, and contribute to climate-neutral economic growth.
The presentation emphasized the strong connection between circular agribusiness and the wood industry, both of which rely on efficient use of natural resources. By showcasing digital solutions, including AI-driven applications, the project demonstrated how smart technologies can optimize production, reduce waste, and create sustainable value chains that benefit local communities and regional economies.
Participants at the workshop expressed a keen interest in the project’s regional cooperation dimension, as the DRWO4.0 initiative fosters collaboration among stakeholders across the Danube Region. Promotional materials such as brochures, infographics, and digital content illustrated not only the project’s goals but also the opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation transfer, and cross-sectoral partnerships.
The presence of the project at this workshop underlined its relevance beyond the wood sector, showing that Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence are key enablers for circular economy models in both agribusiness and forestry. By aligning sustainability with technological progress, DRWO4.0 contributes to a resilient and future-oriented Danube Region.
