Conference on energy communities

The role of energy communities in sustainable energy management is becoming increasingly important. An outdoor demonstration event was held to share knowledge and experience with experts. The main objective of the event was to present the opportunities, benefits and challenges of energy communities in Hungary.

The conference was opened by Imre Pácsonyi, Vice President of the General Assembly of Zala County, followed by a presentation of the ESINERGY project and its pilots, specially the Hungarian pilot action. On behalf of IMRO-DDKK Nonprofit Ltd. Gábor Heves explained that the project partners are developing innovative solutions to optimise energy use and make more efficient use of renewable energy sources.

Tamás Varga-Berta, representing VBNap Energia Kft., gave a presentation on the practical aspects of setting up energy communities. He highlighted the example of the energy community to be established in the town of Lenti. During the presentation he stressed that community energy production has not only economic but also environmental benefits.

Technical possibilities in Hungary

Balázs Petró, expert of REVA-SZOLG Ltd. outlined the current technical possibilities. In his presentation he presented the potential of solar, wind and other renewable energy sources in Hungary. He drew attention to the importance of modern energy storage solutions, which are essential for the efficient operation of energy communities.

The role of the community in energy efficiency measures

The final presentation of the event was given by Zsuzsanna Czinki, an expert on the role of the community in energy efficiency measures.
