ForestConnect Presented at the 17th Meeting of the Carpathian Convention Working Group on Biodiversity
The 17th Meeting of the Carpathian Convention Working Group on Biodiversity was held online on 24 February 2026, in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of the Environment and the Convention Secretariat. The session focused strongly on large carnivore conservation and sustainable habitat management in the Carpathians.
The ForestConnect project contributed to the meeting with the presentation delivered by Polona Zakrajšek (Carinthia University of Applied Sciences). The update highlighted the project’s Strategic Action Plan (SAP) and its proposed climate‑resilient forest management practices for protected areas.
The SAP is expected to be considered during the upcoming revision of the International Action Plan on the conservation of large carnivores and ecological connectivity in the Carpathians, as it provides practical, science‑based guidance on climate adaptation, corridor improvement and cross‑border habitat resilience — all essential for effective long‑term carnivore conservation in a rapidly changing environment. http://www.carpathianconvention.org/2026/02/10/17th-meeting-of-the-working-group-on-biodiversity/
